Downtown Waldoboro concert on July 16: Hoot and Holler

Experience fiddle-Guitar duo Hoot and Holler at a Waldoboro downtown concert on Saturday, July 16 at 7:00 PM at The Space @ No. 9 in Waldoboro. Tickets are $10. Purchase them online now.

About the Band
Fiddle-Guitar duo Hoot and Holler was born of a love of American folk music, nurtured in Boston's burgeoning string band scene, and inspired by the authenticity and enduring spirit of traditional Appalachian mountain music.

Their tender harmonizing and songwriting comes across as simple, honest, and fresh to the ears. Described as the perfect cross section of soulful grit and polished technique, you can expect the full range of dynamics when performing traditional and original old time fiddle tunes--pulsing with rhythm, and an impenetrable groove.

Hoot and Holler has entertained audiences all over the country on their own, as well as official members of the Massachusetts Walking Tour, where they annually hike 100 miles on Massachusetts trails to play free community concerts. With a 2014 EP, Nothing If Not Young, 2015 single "Is This Goodbye/Slow and Steady", Hoot and Holler are set to embark on their third East coast tour in July 2016.

Hoot and Holler delivers on their debut EP Nothing If Not Young. Grads of the Berklee College of Music, Mark Kilianski and Amy Alvey not only have top-notch chops, they've crafted a top-notch sound that's pleasantly refreshing...The soundscapes are rooted in Old-Time music but with a contemporary feel that keeps the songs fresh and exciting. In short, this is happy music played by happy people with feeling.

Here's what's happening at The Space @ No. 9 in June!
Located at 9 Friendship Street in Waldoboro, The Space hosts workshops, art openings, and community gatherings. As always, events are listed on the Medomak Arts website and on our Facebook page!

We've added a few more activities to the calendar this month, introduced below, in addition to events posted on our Facebook page. Still, several additional ideas for art activities are brewing among the board members, but we need your help!

For the summer months, we'd like to bring back Tuesday's Drop by and Draw as an "Open Studio" night - you'd be free to bring any of your own projects to work on or enjoy the company of friends while relaxing with a colouring book! On Wednesday evenings, an "Open Words" night would be a great way to initiate short story writing, or poetry using a host to supply a theme or a random story generator. We are looking for a few volunteers who would like to donate their time a few hours a month to host these open house community evenings.

This coming Saturday is Art Walk Waldoboro. To help raise funds, we would like to ask anyone with leftover seedlings or perennial splits to donate these extra plants to the Medomak for a Plant sale fundraiser! Drop off seedlings Saturday morning 10-noon.

If you would like to display your artwork in the gallery space, propose a class or workshop, or require The Space for a private event, please contact Medomak Arts at 207-808-0376 or
